Booksforboys - About Us
We are the parents of a seventeen year old boy. When our son was twelve, we realized that he was having difficulty in selecting books that would interest him. We were frustrated that he wasn't reading enough. The cartoon character to the right gives you an idea of how frustrated we were.

Finding books to interest him became our goal. What would he find interesting? So we started reading. We searched for books that we thought he would be interested in. After reading many books, and eliminating many more, we were able to provide him with some books that he actually enjoyed reading. Our son likes horror, supernatural and adventure type stories. The first book he read on his own was Cirque du Freak, A Living Nightmare, by Darren Shan. He really liked it! It was a priceless feeling to see him read a book on his own, and enjoy it. He has read the entire series. He has also enjoyed The Boys From Brooklyn, by Salvatore Tomasi; The Last Mission, by Harry Mazer, and Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen. He is still a reluctant reader, but he now realizes that reading can be enjoyable. As he prepares for college, and completes his SAT’s, he realizes how important reading is to his professional success in life. We started Booksforboys.com in 2002 to encourage boys to read. The Booksforboys.com website is a convenient place to find books that we think boys will enjoy. After reading books that interest him, maybe your son will be more open-minded when he reads a school required literary classic; Maybe he will get more out of it.
